A rooftop walk deck can be both part of a home's roof and a place to take in the view. Those two uses are why our 928 Roofing team treats waterproofing and the finished walking surface as parts of the same project.

At this Sedona home, we're restoring a leaking walk deck where earlier work had been left unfinished. We're rebuilding the stairs, making repairs and installing waterproofing before the homeowners can enjoy the space again.

These photos show the project in progress. You can see the deck opened up for repairs in the earlier photos and the preparation and mesh work in the later ones.

Rebuilding the stairs and repairing the deck

This job involves more than a new finish. In the overhead photo taken before the mesh stage, sections of the deck are open and the framing is exposed. We're also redoing the stairs as part of the work to restore the deck.

Preparation and waterproofing installation

The later photos show work on the wood surface and mesh laid across the deck. This is some of the preparation that happens before you see the final finish.

When a walk deck sits over part of a building, a leak in that surface is also a roofing problem. Repairs underneath and waterproofing where the deck meets the home matter just as much as the finish. On this project, we're addressing the repairs and waterproofing together.

Working with Pli Dek on site

We also had a Pli Dek representative on site to review the installation with our team while the work was underway.

Making the outdoor space usable again

With the Sedona views right outside, we're working toward a deck the homeowners can enjoy again, with the leaks repaired and the unfinished work taken care of. The roofing protection and usable outdoor surface are both part of that goal. The project is still underway.

Our team lives here in Northern Arizona, and helping neighbors care for their homes is why this work matters to us. If your walk deck leaks or needs repairs, contact our 928 Roofing team. We handle deck and stair work along with waterproofing in Sedona and nearby communities we serve. We'll explain the problems we find, the repairs we recommend and what comes next, with room for your questions throughout the project.
